Eternally Grateful
These humble words cant begin to express
The gratitude felt towards our NHS
For healthcare professionals who put their lives on the line
Ensuring our welfare through this challenging time
For the tenacious souls treating the dying and sick
Who do this aware of the personal risk
Of facing a virus that's never been seen
And attending to victims of COVID 19
So we stay in our homes and cancel our plans
While they rush through the wards in constant demand
We cannot imagine of what burdens they bear
Their daily endeavors in the duty of care
The sacrifices made and all they have given
With no second thought or lack of decision
When there’s staggering numbers of patients admitted
Their will stays unbroken, strong and committed
Florence Nightingale once said, which I feel applies here
"How very little can be done under the spirit of fear"
From domestics to doctors, admin and nurses
Too many to mention within these few verses
For your bravery and courage in conditions like this
We're eternally grateful for all your service
So we stand and applaud and emphatically cheer
As you nurture and care for those we hold dear
